# Shifts and timesheets

The Dashboard lists employees on shift: active timesheet entries right now. When nobody is clocked in, that list is empty.

From the Dashboard you can clock an employee in, which starts an open timesheet entry, and clock them out, which ends the current shift.

The full records are under **Payroll**:

- **Employees** is the people you schedule and pay.
- **Timesheets** is the record of those shifts.
- **Payday** is the payroll preparation for a pay period.

**Reports**, then the payroll report, is the labor view next to the sales report.
